Learning from Others to Create Healthy Communities

As you already know, we are dedicated to building a long-term foundation for a healthier community with a legacy that will be carried on for years to come through the leadership of everyday people. We create social capital–bonding similar people and bridging diverse communities and organizations–via an informed, engaged, active citizenry and empowering grassroots leaders. In short, we are in constant pursuit in creating the healthiest neighborhoods we can.

In July, this pursuit took us to Detroit to attend a gathering convened by the Kresge Foundation to learn from some of the brightest minds and organizations on how to create the healthiest communities. Ultimately, our collective vision centers on BIPOC communities leading the way in defining and sustaining community health and safety. The future is built on care, cultural power, youth leadership, and structural transformation, and is rooted in economic dignity, racial justice, intergenerational solidarity, connection, belonging, and healing.

Now, we have a chance to return the favor. This fall, Kresge will visit our home and learn about our work, our partners, and the residents and families who work each day to create #OneHealthyFresno.

Stand by for details!
