Advancing Transportation Equity for #OneHealthyFresno

Transportation

We work to advance transportation equity by encouraging systems that address the mobility needs of all residents and that deliver real environmental benefits for our region.

Why Transportation Matters

For decades, local transportation dollars have tilted toward highways and new roads, rather than neighborhood connections that help people get to work, school, healthcare, and parks. We support focused investments on safe streets, reliable transit, and walkable communities, so kids can walk safely to school and families can reach what they need most.

Our Approach

A key driver in local transportation is Measure C, Fresno County’s half-cent transportation sales tax first approved in 1986. It expires in 2027, with current plans to place a renewal on the November 2026 ballot. We are working with Transportation for All and the Fresno Council of Governments to ensure the ballot measure centers on equity, access, and accountability.

Here are a few ways we influence transportation initiatives in our community.

People-powered planning: Through our Transportation for All (T4A) coalition, we unite parents, grandparents, youth, labor, faith, business, and community leaders to champion responsible investments and sensible policies.

Safer, healthier trips: We advocate for projects and funding that prioritize transit, walking, and biking, which reduces traffic collisions and pollution while expanding opportunities for all residents.

Transparent, accountable systems: We convene learning sessions and community forums so residents shape decisions from the start, not after the fact.

Current Transportation Priorities

Measure C Renewal: We’re working toward a community-driven, voter-supported ballot measure that focuses on transportation equity with clear performance metrics and investments that connect neighborhoods.

Transit for Everyone: Frequent, reliable service that links jobs, schools, healthcare, and parks across urban and rural communities.

Neighborhood Mobility and Safety: Sidewalks, bus shelters, crosswalks, and safer routes that help kids, families, and seniors get where they need to go safely and affordably.
