Fiesta Navideña Brings Neighbors Together for the Holiday Season
Last week, we hosted Fiesta Navideña at the Senior Citizens Village, a neighborhood gathering focused on sharing a meal, offering resources, and creating an atmosphere for families to enjoy the season together. More than 500 residents joined us for this special community event.
It would not have been possible without the support of community partners who provided valuable resources to residents throughout the evening:
- Cultiva La Salud
- United Farm Workers Foundation
- Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries (FIRM)
- Fresno Metro Ministry
- Centro La Familia
- Californians for Pesticide Reform (CPR)
Their teams welcomed families, answered questions, and shared important information that people could use right away. Their presence made the resource fair a genuine point of connection for residents.
Dinner was served early in the evening, and every residents received a plate of tamales, beans and rice, and chicken salad. More than 500 people were fed. As the night continued, Leslie Martinez from Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability delivered a critical presentation about Measure C and the future of transportation in Fresno County. After engaging with the capacity crowd for nearly half an hour, she encouraged residents to continue to fight for the transportation future we deserve.

One of the most popular stops of the night was the photo area with Santa. Kids waited patiently for their turn, and our professional photographer snapped memorable photos of children, families, and friends. The photos can be found on our event page and are freely available for download. The Santa photos were a fun holiday tradition and one way for us to provide residents and families with something joyful to remember the night.
Of course, the raffle brought some of the loudest reactions of the night. When the numbers were called, everyone quieted and leaned in. Kids cheered while adults compared their tickets, and the winners waved their hands before heading to the front for their prize. It gave the evening a fun and energetic spark, and we want to give special thanks to our community partners as well as the office of District 7 City Councilmember Nelson Esparza, who provided wonderful raffle items which included gift baskets, backpacks, bicycles, and even a television.
Throughout the night, families also received food boxes to take home. We made sure every household received one, and after the distribution wrapped up, we still had extras. Those were given to residents who wanted one or knew a neighbor or family member who could use one. That way, nothing went to waste and people left with something helpful heading into the week.
By the end of the night, it was clear how much the residents appreciated having a community gathering right where they live. They were able to talk with our partners about transportation, health programs, tenant support, food access, and other needs, and
families left with food, information and good memories.
We are grateful to everyone who helped make Fiesta Navideña possible. From the partners who set up tables and distributed resources, to the volunteers who served meals and handed out food baskets, to the residents who showed up ready to celebrate, the night came together because everyone played a part.
As we look ahead to the new year, events like this remind us why we continue building #OneHealthyFresno. It begins with people looking out for each other and creating environments where community is real and accessible. Fiesta Navideña gave us that, and we will carry that momentum forward into the new year.
