Youth Leadership Lessons in the Wild
Our Youth Internship Program (YIP) focuses on developing and mentoring the leaders of tomorrow by offering a variety of educational and professional experiences. Recently, 15 interns took to the woods at Yosemite to learn valuable lessons about the value and health benefits of parks and green space and how to apply the standards of the wild in everyday city living.
Our thanks to NatureBridge for helping make this free trip happen and for providing a unique learning experience.
Sinai Rocha, a participant in the YIP, summed it up best:
“The trip to Yosemite was much more than just a work trip – to me it was an experience. Working here at BHC has taught me the importance of appreciation, especially when it comes to things that are almost always taken for granted. Being out there allowed us as a group to find beauty in the outdoors and realize the importance of everyone, no matter the circumstances, of having easy access to a healthy environment.”
