Youth Interns Deliver a Message in Sacramento

Youth leaders and community members in a roundtable discussion with local officials inside a state office building.

In May, a few participants in our Youth Internship Program teamed up with the ParksNow Coalition to visit the State Capitol to meet with legislators to advocate for Proposition 4, which aims to address critical needs in California state parks by investing $175 million in deferred maintenance projects, such as repairing roads and trails.

Additionally, Prop 4, which voters approved in 2024, provides $200 million to the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program, supporting underserved communities in building parks and recreational facilities.

Meanwhile, here at home and as of this writing, the City of Fresno is still not fully implementing Measure P and is not spending the millions of dollars it has generated. We, the people, have done our part. We raised our voice, organized our neighbors, and taxed ourselves for more and better parks. It’s up to the politicians to implement Measure P as envisioned by the voters and residents of Fresno. To learn more and to get involved, please visit our Invest In Fresno Parks page.
