Local Business Supports #OneHealthyFresno
FRESNO, Calif. – As part of its Points with a Purpose initiative, Total Wine & More donated $10,000 on Friday, September 25, to Fresno Building Healthy Communities, a local nonprofit dedicated to fostering thriving communities and creating #OneHealthyFresno.
Points with a Purpose contributes the equivalent monetary value of total points earned during the campaign period to nonprofit organizations while customers collect 5 times the points on select purchases.
“Fresno Building Healthy Communities is happy to work with organizations, businesses, residents and decision makers who want to create #OneHealthyFresno,” said Sandra Celedon, President & Chief Executive Officer of Fresno Building Healthy Communities. “Total Wine & More’s generous gift will allow us to continue to support DREAMERs through our DACA Scholarship program and will help us further our existing #Parks4All and Outdoor Access Together campaigns and help us continue to advance the movement to create a Fresno we can all be proud of.”
Fresno Building Healthy Communities has received other grants and donations in 2020 that assist with a variety of efforts, including the coalition’s COVID-19 Equity Project which emerged in response to the current pandemic. The effort provides direct support to those disproportionally affected by the pandemic as well as prevention education and contact tracing while employing local community members to strengthen the public health system.
“In our search for the ideal local non-profit in Fresno with whom to partner on the Points with a Purpose program we didn’t need to look any further than Fresno Building Healthy Communities,” said Edward Cooper, Vice President of Public Affairs and Community Relations at Total Wine & More.
Total Wine & More chooses organizations that work to address the most basic human needs like advocating for affordable housing, battling food insecurity and ensuring racial justice.
“Fresno Building Healthy Communities’ mission aligns well with Total Wine & More’s community relations effort to foster civic engagement and support community-based organizations in the areas in which our stores are located,” Cooper continued. “We are proud to have partnered with them on the Points with a Purpose program and pleased to be able to support their good work.”
